Comhairle Na nÓg
Comhairle Na nÓg Leitrim comprised of students from second level  from all over Leitrim made a presentation on Youth perceptions of Homelessness in Ireland.  The presentation was in the Council Chamber and was attended by members of Leitrim County Council, St. Vincent de Paul and the Simon Community.  The presentation was attended by Mohill CC students – Scot Ferns and John Heslin.  The presentation was based on a survey carried out in seven second level schools in Leitrim with 306 respondents.  The survey acknowledged homelessness in Leitrim as well as countrywide and proposed measures to deal with the problem.
Write the Future.
Ms. McGirl’s Fifth Year English class all wrote letters on the  humanitarian crisis involving refugees in Europe and beyond.  The letters were tendered to “Goal” who sponsored the initiative.  The letter writing greatly increased awareness and understanding for the students involved.
All Fifth Year students went to a staging of the play in the Helix Theatre in Dublin.  By all accounts it was an entertaining and authentic production.  Students were accompanied by their English teachers.
St. Bridget’s day was marked in the school by the making of St. Bridget’s crosses  by First and Second year classes.  Ms. Colum initiated the venture.
Work Experience.
Fifth Years are currently on a weeks work experience in the local community as part of the LCVP programme.  Thanks to all who have facilitated this for the students.
We sympathise with Ms. Conway and family on the death of her brother – Joe Flynn in New York.  May he rest in peace.
