X Factor Fundraiser.

We congratulate students Shane McGourty, Leighann Flynn, Niamh Donnelly, Rachel Prior and Chelsi David who took part in this event and raised money for the Tighe Family.


We commend Mohill C.L.G on their club history “Clear the Way” – a comprehensive and colourful account of their exploits since their formation in 1889.

Study Skills.

Leaving Cert Students had the opportunity to attend the above day long course in the school.

Senior Boys Basketball.`

The U/19 boys have qualified for the All Ireland playoffs and a place in the quarter finals. This is scheduled for the new year. They qualified on foot of a win against Kiltimagh on a scoreline of Mohill – 50 – Kiltimagh – 39.

Ms. Hargaden Ward is the coach and mentor.

Transition Year Enterprise.

The group have a range of products available to purchase in the run up to Christmas. These include – a personalised Christmas story book, mini Christmas trees, Emoji Keyrings, MCC pens and phone charger cases.

The “Walk and Talk”that was part of anti-bullying week and doubled as a sponsored fundraiser for the Loughlin Og Burns cause has raised €508. Thanks and well done to the students and their sponsors.

Girls Active.

First year girls are starting a weekly one hour physical activity session this week. The class is after school and will be facilitated by Ms Purcell and it is funded by Leitrim Sports Partnership.

Transition Years.

The class were ice skating in Sligo during the week and despite a number of early falls they soon mastered the discipline. They together with a school choir directed by Ms. M. McGovern are having carol singing in Arus Carolan and the day care centre in the lead up to Christmas.


First Year Home Economic students have been busy making posters relating to health issues ranging from obesity to osteoporosis. The are attractive and informative and are located in common areas of the school. Ms. Kellegher initiated the project.

Senior Boys Football.

Mohill played Glenamaddy in Ballyhaunis in a Connacht quarter final and were defeated by a much stronger team.


We sympathise with Elannah Sollit and family on the death of her cousin in England. Rest in peace.

Well done to First Year student Rachel Reynolds who won a literary award in the Leitrim Guardian for her entry “A haunted story–the cry that always returns”.
A number of Third year students had their writings on the theme of peace published in the Guardian also.

Longford Town F.C.

Four students have made the town U/14 panel and train in Longford on a weekly basis. The boys say the big competition is the Kennedy Cup next Summer.
Conor Quinn, Conor Macklin, Conor Canning & Donal Duignan are the students involved.


We welcome a new teacher to the school- Mr. Cummins, who is replacing Ms. Maxwell, who is on maternity leave.

U/14 Girls Football.

Ms. Flanagan’s team played Boyle C.S. in a home game in Cloone during the week. They won well on a scoreline Mohill C.C. 11-12 – Boyle C.S. 4-12
