Soccer Supremo.
We applaud First Year student, Genevieve Canning, who plays U/13 and U/15 girls soccer with Longford Town.F.C. Genevieve plays midfield and is very committed training twice a week in Dromard.
Scholarships.
Well done to Aoife Cafferty, Caoimhe Canning, Peter O’Nell and Rose McLoughlin, who won Gaeltacht Scholarships sponsored by Leitrim G.A.A.
DCU Awards.
We commend Daire McKiernan who is receiving a scroll and achievement plaque at a ceremony in DCU on foot of his high performance at Leaving Certificate 2014.
Transition Years.
The TY group have a class in Karate every Friday. . Mr. Gaffey has delivered a GAA Foundation Level coaching course to them.
Mr. Nolan engaged with them and the class entered five team proposals in the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland project called “One good idea”. One of the five groups have been selected to develop their proposals and compete in the next phase of the project. The group will have a workshop from a visiting mentor in the coming weeks. We wish them well in their endeavours.
Bereavements.
We express our sympathies to Blathnaid and Aoife Duignan on the death of their grandfather, Patrick Fitzsimons, to Lucia Tyrrell and her extended family on the death of her uncle, Colm Mullen, granduncle to students Dillon Tyrrell and Emma Quinn and to David Faughnan on the death of his grandaunt, Elizabeth McGarry. May they rest in peace.

Mohill C.C. participated in the All Ireland quarter final playoffs. They met Athenry and were unlucky with their shooting missing a few vital scores that left them three points adrift at the final hooter. Mohill 44 Athenry 47. Mohill then played OLSPK Belfast and did not fare as well. The skill and commitment of the Mohill lads was never in doubt. Well done lads.
Chemistry in Maynooth.
Ms. Muldowney accompanied the sixth year Chemistry students to Maynooth University where they got to experience and carry out many of the practicals again in a College setting.
Art Trip.
Mohill CC Senior Art Students joined Ballymote students on a visit to the National Museum to view Bronze and Iron age gold. They then visited the National Gallery to see permanent collections and the “lines of vision” collection. Ms. Purcell and Ms. McGrath accompanied the students.
Agricultural Science Farm Walk.
Mr. Kelly’s Fifth Year students hope to visit two local dairy farms as part of their studies.
Bereavement.
We sympathise with James and Sorcha Quinn on the deaths of their grandparents in England recently. May they rest in peace.

Thirty six Biology students from Leaving Cert Classes visited Maynooth University for a day of practical Biology. Mr. McHugh and Mr. Mulvey accompanied the students.
Art.
Students from Fifth and Sixth year visited the National Museum and Art Gallery. They were accompanied by Ms. Purcell and Ms. McGrath.
Boys Basketball.
The U/16 Boys play Athenry and OLSPK Belfast in the College Sports Hall. These are All Ireland Quarter final playoffs. Ms. Hargaden Ward coaches the boys teams.
Mock Exams.
That time of year again. Junior Cert exams begin on February 5th and Leaving Cert the day after. We wish them good luck in their endeavours.
Bereavement.
We offer sympathy to Ms. Reynolds and family on the death of her aunt – Mrs. Rose Cunningham. May she rest in peace.

Six hundred euro was raised on the Friday before Christmas as students and staff were all bedecked with jumpers, bells and whistles and all. Half of the proceeds go to St Vincent de Paul and the remainder to the ‘Live life foundation ‘ championed by the Walshe family on foot of their son Donal’s inspirational fight for life.Well done to the TY students and Ms Hargaden -Ward for promoting this fun fundraiser.
Basketball.
Mohill C.C. is the venue for All Ireland basketball quarter final playoffs for boys at U 16 and U 19 levels. The games are scheduled for January 19th and February 1st and involve Mohill teams competing with teams from Galway, Derry and Belfast.
Bereavements.
WE sympathise with the following who were recently bereaved. Amy Cox on the death of her Grandfather Jim Canning, Saoirse Kellegher on the death of her Grandfather Michael Kellegher, Rachel Kiernan on the death of her Granduncle Willie Wynne and to the Mulligan, Gordon and Stenson families on the death of Frank Joe Reynolds. May they all rest in peace.
