Soccer tournament.

A five a side competition has been organised with ten teams participating. It is a fundraiser for fifth year student Seamus Sweeney, who will travel to Lourdes this year as a helper, on the Ardagh pilgrimage. Thank you to Ms.Hanly for her help with some of the planning. Well done done Seamus on showing  initiative and generosity in volunteering.
History trip
Fifth and sixth year history students had a guided walking tour of Dublin city centre with a particular focus on areas associated with the 1916 rebellion. They then proceeded to Glasnevin cementary where they visited the republican plot and visited  other graves and tombs of famous Irish people. They also visited the onsite museum. Mr. Nolan and Mr. Mulvey accompanied the students on their trip.
The Field
Third year English students attended Dublin’s Gaiety Theatre to see the John B. Keane classic, a highly acclaimed awarding winning performance of the play which is on the current English syllabus. The 2015 production marks the 50th anniversary of the first staging of the play.Locals Seamus O’Rourke and Michael Harding have leading parts in the play. Ms. Reynolds accompanied her class on this trip.
Nathan Corbett
Nathan, a native Australian, is eleven times world kick boxing muaythai heavy weight champion. He spoke to fifth year students regarding his career in the sport and the sacrifices he has had to make to reach the top. He was in Leitrim with Cloone native, Ciaran Mitchell who is head of the UK karate federation
Ryan Shanley TY student has received a merit award for his entry in the ‘Write a Letter Project 2015’ promoted by Carrick on Shannon Education Centre. The presentation was held in the Landmark Hotel. Luke Jones and Rachel Prior were also highly commended for their entries. Ms. Reynolds promoted the project in the school
We sympathise with Ryan Lennon and his family on the death of his grandfather, Frank Lennon. We extend our sympathy to Caoimhe, Eileen and Alex Canning and their family on the death of their aunt Frances Canning. May they rest in peace.
