Christmas Poetry.

First Years have been invited by Ms. Reynolds and Ms. McGirl to submit at least ten lines of poetry with a Christmas theme.  Valuable prizes await the winners.

Candy Cane Grabs.
A group of Transition Years have initiated a scheme where students or staff can pay a euro and have a message attached to a candy cane sent to someone they admire anonymously.  All profits go to charity – all messages monitored.
TY Enterprise
Transition Years have enterprise groups who set up a company with a view to selling a product and accumulating profit.  Ultimately in house judging of the companies will select projects to go to the County Finals in 2016.  The following are some of  the  of projects.
  –  Decorated phone covers.
  –  Half Zip hoodies.
  –  Christmas logs.
  –  Custom made notebook covers.
  –  Yearbooks.

Visiting Speaker

Garda Brady made a presentation to all Junior classes on the use of the internet and cyber bullying in particular.  He encourages parents to be active in monitoring their children’s activities on the internet.
The trip to Manchester was enjoyed by all despite the fact that the match was nil all.  They had to depart from home  eleven hours ahead of schedule on the grounds of deteriorating weather conditions.
Matthew Sadlier.
A number of students from Mohill Foroige  engaged in a TV recording at the Sadlier memorial bench.  The students and their leaders had won a national award sponsored by Aldi, who commissioned the production.
John Heslin, Josh Lupton,. Gerry McCrann, Adam Kelly, Rebecca Bohan, Tara Copley, Danielle Mayo, Gavin Gordon, Muireann O’Kelly, Eira Gaffey, Olivia Mulkerrins and  Eileen Canning were involved in the project.
Senior Boys Basketball.
The boys won a very close game played at home against Abbey V.S., Ballyshannon.  A three point margin secured the win in the end.

Thanks to Frank McGowan who refereed the match. This win gets the team into the qualifiers.Ms Hargaden Ward is mentor to this group.

Senior Girls Football.

Mohill played Carrigallen V.S. in Cloone and won on a scoreline – Mohill CC: 5-6 to Carrigallen V.S. 3-4. This takes the girls to a quarter final in January. Ms. Brennan managed the team on the day. Thanks to Cloone GFC and referee – Gerry Gallogly.

Senior Girls Basketball.

Ms. Guckian brought the girls to play Abbey V.S. Donegal Town and despite a great last quarter performance lost by 11 points at the hooter. Thanks to Tadhg Mulligan and Fiachra McGuinness, who looked after the scoreboard.

“Cura” made a presentation to Second Years and representatives from the Samaritans spoke to Fifth Year students recently.

John Paul 11 Awards.

Students from Transition Year and Fifth Year are enlisting for the 2016 awards presently.

Girls Active.

Ms. Purcell conducts an aerobics class with First Year girls for an hour after school on Tuesdays.

Leitrim Light Orchestra.

Well done to Evelyn Reynolds and her two sisters who played violin with the orchestra on the Late Late Toyshow.

Fifth Years in Manchester.

Over sixty Fifth year students travelled to Manchester to take in a Manchester United game against West Ham. The itinerary also included visits to the Science and Industry Museum, University of Manchester Museum as well as Chill Factore, cinema and shopping at the Trafford Centre.


We sympathise with Hannah and Kieran McGlynn and family on the death of their granduncle – Larry McGlynn. May he rest in peace.
