School News May 19th 2016

Transition Years.
The group have been very busy and active of late -last week they were in Longford Kayaking and the school tour to Northern Italy is taking place over this weekend.
Michelle Hackett from the TY class is an accomplished golfer and was part of the winning foursome that won the Bornacoola GAA golf classic last weekend , and she was overall winner in Roscommon in a tournament the same weekend . Well done Michelle.

Comhairle na nOg.
Following on from Comhairle’s “Youth perception on homelessness” launched by Leitrim County Council in February last, the research centre in NUI Galway have shot a video to be launched in the autumn. School students Scott Ferns , John Heslin and Willow Kirwan feature on the video.Scott and John will attend the 2016 Childrens state event in Aras an Uachtaran in June. This will commemorate the forty children who died during Easter week 1916. John Heslin will represent one of those children on the day.

We welcome Ms McGovern back from maternity leave and bid farewell to Ms Grimes who deputised for her.

Floral Pride.
The school garden on the south facing side of the school is resplendent with colour, in hanging baskets and raised planters. Ms McManus is working with Killian, Pat and Lorcan on the project. Judging for the competition is this week.
