School News May 12th 2016

Transition Year.

The students had two full days of First Aid, CPR and the use of an AED, facilitated by a group of professionals.

Ms. McGrath’s Art class have recently worked on ceramics using the kiln, with Salvador Dali’s work as a theme, in particular his “melting clocks”.Work is continuing in Ms Reynolds’ English class on Thursdays with Chris Thompson and we are coming up to the last session of five. This week the group are working on a brochure that depicts Ireland as a place of welcome in words and pictures.

Rugby

Students – James Doyle and Shane Mallon have been called up to the Midland Rugby Club squad at U/16 level. They play rugby with Longford RC. Well done lads.

Other Sports

Many of our students were involved in recent minor league finals at fifteen and thirteen a side. St. Manachan’s defeated Fenagh – St. Caillins and St. Francis defeated a Gortletteragh Bornacoola amalgamation.

Dearbhaile Beirne and Claire Beirne are playing football with Leitrim Ladies in the Intermediate Championship.

In Athletics Sibéal Reynolds won the Intermediate Long Jump, while first year – Chloe Dolan was fifth in the minor shot put at North Connacht Schools competitions in Sligo.

Leaving Cert Mass.

The Mass will be held in the parish church on Monday, May 16th at 2.00 p.m. Parents, guardians and family are invited. These will be refreshments in the school afterwards. The theme this year is” Journey ends – adventure begins”.
