School News April 16th 2015

Examination Fever.

This week the practical and oral exams have got underway for Junior and Leaving cert students, it is the start of an intense few weeks for them and we wish them good luck in their endeavours.
Daffodil day.
The day was marked in the school by a bake sale and a collection which realised 643 euro. Thanks to Tanya  Boyle, Alannah Ward, Rhia and Chloe Cunningham for all the advance publicity and to Ms Muldowney and Ms Reynolds and all who baked and helped out on the day.
Transition Year.
The TY class accompanied by Mr Beirne  attended the Ramada Hotel, Drumshanbo for a day of education for life. The Dog Trust made a presentation on the responsibilities of owning a dog. This was followed by a high impact presentation from the Road Safety Association on the dangers of drink/ drug driving and the risk of using a phone while driving.Graphic footage was shown to drive the message home. The Fire service then gave a demonstration of the tasks they perform at accident scenes.The day was punctuated by a lovely lunch. In the afternoon we had a talk on the importance of healthy eating and exercise from Michelle Fanning.

Bereavements.
We sympathise with Shannon Cassells and her family on the death of her grandfather Mr Lattimore. We also extend sympathy to David Campbell and Dillon Rogan and their families on the death or Damien Rogan. May they rest in peace.
