Leaving Cert Geography Trip
Ms. Scollan and Ms. Maxwell guided the students on their field studies in the Killucan river Kilmore last week. They explored transportation and deposition in a fluvial environment and despite the conditions all rerturned safely.

NCCA Conference
Ms. Reynolds and Ms. Scollan attended a consultative forum in Dublin Castle on the proposed Junior Cycle reform in English which is due for implementation from 2014 onwards.

Winners
Nicole Feeney and Martin Tiernan won the prizes in “Guess the Score” competition organised for TY funds – they raised just short of €1,000 and wish to thank all who contributed..

Pitch Development
We are glad to see work begin on the new school football pitch behind the school. Contractors arrived early last week and have much of the levelling complete..

The Dock.
Ms. Purcell and the TY students visited an Art Exhibition in Carrick on Shannon.

Dearbhaile Beirne.
Dearbhaile has been named on the Irish U/17 Soccer panel to visit Romania for over a week to play a number of international matches. This is a wonderful achievement for an all round athlete and we are proud of her.

Niamh Beirne.
We congratulate Niamh Beirne a first year student who played at half time in Croke Park in the All Ireland Football Final. Niamh played in a Dublin jersey on the day.

Junior U/16 Girls Football.
Mr. Kehir and Mr. Quinn were in charge when the girls played a home game against Castlerea. Despite having plenty of possession the Mohill girls were lucky to run out with a three point win. Thanks to Enda Stenson for refereeing the game.

Congratulations
We salute Ms. Travers, our PE teacher, on winning the Irish Daily Mail Foursomes in Carton House. This competition had run over a period of time culminating in the finals in the renowned Co. Kildare Golf Club.

Correction
Liam Rowley was bereaved by the passing of his Grandfather, Miko Rowley.

Condolences.
We sympathise with Mary Brigid McDonagh on the death of her cousin in Longford. May he rest in peace.

Transition Years
The TY class have began their work experience in the community last week – we thank those who have facilatated this. The TY students have been raising funds for upcoming trips by running a “guess the score” for the All Ireland football final.

Big Brother Big Sister.
This mentoring system is being organised for First Year students by Ms. Hanly and NYP and will be in operation shortly.

Evening Study.
Evening study will soon commence for the first year term – enquire in the office.

Long Hot Summer
No arguments it has been a summer to remember and we welcome our students new and returning to the new academic year.

Congratulations
Well done to our students on their Junior and Leaving Cert results and we wish our past Leaving Cert students success in their Third Level studies. Most students were able to avail of their first choice college course in particular the seven students who broke the 500 point barrier.

School Mass
Preparations are taking place for the start of year mass which will be celebrated in a few weeks time..

Kon tiki Adventure Centre
All 23 Transition Years together with their coordinator, Ms. Hargaden-Ward went to Rooskey on their bonding trip. They had a very active day that encompassed archery, canoeing, team building exercises, obstacle courses and pier jumping. A great but somewhat exhausting day out.

Irish Times Higher Options Expo 2013
Ms. Reynolds and Ms. Hargaden-Ward accompanied Leaving Cert students to this careers exhibition at the RDS.
